Treat Everyone With the Respect You’d like Afforded to You

Posted on June 19, 2020July 28, 2020 by Polly

Helen Schifter has written about the importance of ensuring entrepreneurship is never pursued devoid of values and ethical norms. Schifter has been passionate about ensuring that society and the commercial world are not solely fixated on monetary pursuits without considering ethical and other important considerations. This is an important message that needs to be heard city-wide, state-wide, nationally and even on a global scale.

The pursuit for materialism and anything money related is something that we are all compelled by based on human instinct and tact. It’s just a reality that is inescapable. But there are ways to ensure that entrepreneurship is cultivated with a sense of values and imbued with a sense of pride and goodness. This is the ultimate combination that leads to not only commercial success; but a happier work environment which motivates and compels all in the workplace of the person leading it , to strive to achieve more.

It’s the leader of the entrepreneurial initiative that needs to set the tone for the workplace and for the character of whatever the business may be. No industry is immune from this type of stylistic importance. The standard is ultimately set from the top down to the very bottom of the echelons of power and influence of the respective business. No matter the industry, this concept is applicable, and very significant.

Helen Schifter on Linkedin has sought to disseminate information about the importance of leading this type of business environment. In the corporate world, equality among genders is also incredibly important. Respect has to be afforded equally to all constituencies within the corporate world, regardless of creed, ethnicity or gender. There has been a groundswell of support for promoting women in the workforce and this is all very heartening to see. But it also does not diminish the importance of ensuring fairness and arbiter-like setting in commercial America.

The value of fairness is unequivocally important and extends beyond any one particular business or industry. For example, if one wants to foster a culture where all staff members feel motivated and compelled to do all in their power to help the respective business succeed and excel, they will need to foster a culture of empowerment and only in such an environment will success percolate.

If employees feel a vested interest in the business’ future success they will do everything in their power to ensure that the business does indeed succeed. This will have incalculable benefits on not only the work-product that is produced over time; but also on the way the employees treat one another. The way they treat the business’ clients. If they feel a vested interest in the company’s success, they will be inclined to treat their fellow employees and also the company’s clients (no matter how big or small) as family – with the level of respect that they deserve.

That’s not to say that a business’ staff should not be comporting themselves with respect regardless of the type of work environment they’ve created and cultivated. There needs to be respect imbued within a company’s culture and work-place. But ultimately there also needs to be a shared interest in the company excelling in every way imaginable.

Helen Schifter has written about this extensively; and provides a whole array of different thoughts to business owners, regardless of the business’ size, in an effort to help guide them through this important process. If this latest Coronavirus pandemic and the economic fallout of the crisis has taught us anything – it’s the need for us to recalibrate the importance of how we treat one another. Doing business is no excuse for treating a fellow human being with a sub-par level of decency.

There needs to be a mutual understanding between business owners and their staff of the need to treat each other with respect and admiration. If you are working in an environment where you feel it  is impossible whether for ethical reasons or otherwise to treat your employer with respect, you should leave if you have the financial security to do so. There needs to be more goodness in the world. For it’s only through appreciation of each members of mankind that we collectively will be able to get through this crisis. Outbreak after outbreak cannot possibly stop the human spirit and its associated generosity. So let’s take this opportunity to commit to one another that we will treat each other with the respect that we’d like to have afforded to us. That commitment will have real constructive implications on our way of life, and real time consequences.
